The development of fiber in the field of building strength and disaster prevention and reduction
Fiber for building reinforcement was first proposed by Goldfein in 1965, and polypropylene fiber was used in the anti-explosion structure of the U.S. army corps of engineers. In the late 1960s, the United States and Europe began to use polypropylene fiber concrete for cement products and construction. In 1971, the UK formulated the national standards for the use of fibre-reinforced concrete in pipes and fittings. Since the 1980s, high strength and high elastic modulus modified fibers have been developed in the United States and Europe to strengthen concrete. The amount of fiber reinforced concrete has already accounted for more than 10% of the total amount of concrete.
2. Successful cases
In the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Western Europe, fiber reinforced concrete has been used with great success in covering roads and airport runways, mining and tunnel engineering, slope fixing and fire protection facilities. The Japanese institute of disaster prevention and research has successfully developed polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete (pp) that can withstand earthquakes more than 1.5 times the size of the hanshin earthquake.
The special polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete was applied to the super large changeover beam in chongqing world trade center, which successfully solved the problems of crack resistance and toughness improvement in the construction of high grade bulk concrete.
