the basic introduction of polyester



Dacron is an important variety of synthetic fiber and is the name of the Chinese polyester fiber. It is pure terephthalic acid (PTA) and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and ethylene glycol (MEG) as raw material, through esterification and ester exchange and polycondensation reaction of fiber forming polymer, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the spinning and aftertreatment fibers.

In 1941, J.R. Winfield and J.T. Dixon of the United Kingdom developed the successful polyester fiber in the laboratory of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol (Terylene). In 1953, the United States produced a polyester fiber called Dacron. Subsequently, polyester fiber developed rapidly in the world. In 1960 the polyester fiber was more than polyamide fiber, becoming the first major variety of synthetic fiber

Fiber characteristics

✪ polyester proportion is 1.38;

✪ melting point of 255 ~ 260 ℃, 205 ℃ when start bonding, security ironing temperature is 135 ℃;

✪ moisture absorption is very low, only 0.4%;

✪ the breaking strength of the filament is 4.5 ~ 5.5 g/denier, short fiber is 3.5 ~ 5.5 g/denier;

✪ elongation at break of 15 to 25% of the filament, staple fiber for 25 ~ 40%;

✪ type high strength fiber strength can reach 7 ~ 8 g/denier, elongation was 7.5 ~ 12.5%.



Types and characteristics


1. At the beginning of raw silk

At the beginning of raw silk is refers to the direct melt spinning out without tension silk silk, depending on the spinning speed generally divided into undrawn yarn (UDY), half a preliminary orientation wire (she), pre orientation wire (xiamen), high orientation wire (HOY).


2. The drawn yarn


The stretch silk refers to the fibers that are moderately stretched during the spinning process and can be divided into stretches (DY) and all-drawing (FDY) according to the degree of stretching.


3. Textured yarn


By using the characteristics of heat and plasticization of synthetic fibers, under the action of mechanical and heat, the straightening fiber becomes the crimped fiber, which is called the deformed filament, also known as the deformation fiber. According to the different raw materials and processing technology, it can be divided into regular textured yarn (TY), stretch textured yarn (DTY) and air textured yarn (ATY).
